Meta Description:
Explore TOWA APF-100 manual label applicator for 20–100mm wide round, oval and rectangular labels with slidable Mech-Sensor and no power required.

TOWA APF-100 Label Applicator in UAE

The TOWA APF-100 is the widest model in TOWA’s APF manual label-applicator family.

It is designed for compatible round, oval, rectangular and other shaped roll labels with widths from approximately 20 mm to 100 mm and label lengths from 20 mm to 60 mm. TOWA specifies a 104 mm maximum release-liner width, 2–3 mm recommended label gap, 100 mm standard maximum roll diameter and approximately 420 g weight.

The APF Series differs from the APN Series through its slidable Mech-Sensor, which can be positioned according to the actual label shape. This makes the APF-100 especially useful where one business needs to apply different rectangular, round, oval or irregular labels rather than only standard rectangular labels.

Overview

A typical APF-100 workflow is:

Pre-Printed Label Roll

Load Roll into APF-100

Slide Mech-Sensor to Suitable Position

Squeeze Handle

Label Separates from Release Liner

Apply Label

The applicator is completely mechanical and requires no electricity, battery, charger, software or compressed air. TOWA positions its AP Series for applications including stores, logistics warehouses, courier operations, food processing and fruit/vegetable production.

Slidable Mech-Sensor

The defining feature of the APF Series is the slidable Mech-Sensor.

With shaped labels, the gap between labels can vary depending on where the sensor touches the label edge. TOWA therefore allows the sensor to slide left or right so it can be positioned near the center of the label or another suitable detection point.

This is the main reason to choose APF-100 instead of APN-100 when labels are not always rectangular.

Label Width: 20–100 mm

The APF-100 has the broadest width range in the APF family:

Minimum Label Width: 20 mm

Maximum Label Width: 100 mm

This makes it suitable for both smaller shaped labels and larger labels within one applicator.

However, TOWA also notes that smaller applicators are lighter and easier to handle. So if a customer only uses labels up to 30 or 60 mm wide, APF-30 or APF-60 may be more ergonomic.

Label Length: 20–60 mm

TOWA specifies a label length / stroke range of:

20–60 mm

For labels exceeding 60 mm in feed length, TOWA notes that some AP models can still be operated by continuing the lever action, but such use should be reviewed carefully rather than treated as standard.

Recommended Label Gap

The recommended gap between labels is:

2–3 mm

This gap helps the mechanical sensor detect individual labels consistently.

For unusual spacing, sample testing is preferable.

Maximum Liner Width

The APF-100 supports a maximum release-liner width of approximately:

104 mm

This is important because a 100 mm label may be supplied on a liner wider than 104 mm.

Always measure the total liner width, not only the printed label.

Maximum Roll Diameter

The standard maximum roll outside diameter is approximately:

100 mm.

Roll compatibility also depends on:

  • Core diameter
  • Winding direction
  • Label material
  • Liner type
  • Label thickness

Core Diameter

TOWA recommends:

25 mm or greater

with approximately:

38–51 mm / 1.5–2 inches

preferred for normal operation.

Optional 3-Inch Core Support

TOWA offers a separate 3-inch label-core accessory for users working with larger label rolls. The company lists this as an option rather than standard APF-100 equipment.

Do not assume 3-inch core support is included unless it is explicitly quoted.

Label Material

TOWA recommends general paper labels with suitable release liner for normal AP Series use.

Special media such as:

  • Film
  • Synthetic labels
  • Specialty facestocks
  • Unusual liners

should be checked before use.

Label Thickness

TOWA specifies:

50 μm or greater

for supported label thickness.

Very thin labels may not separate or feed correctly.

Round Label Applications

The APF-100 can be considered for:

  • Large round promotional labels
  • Product seals
  • Quality-control labels
  • Inspection stickers
  • Branding labels
  • Food-packaging stickers

Oval Label Applications

Potential uses include:

  • Bottle labels
  • Jar labels
  • Promotional stickers
  • Branding labels
  • Cosmetic packaging
  • Specialty retail products

Rectangular Label Applications

The APF-100 also supports rectangular labels.

However, if a customer uses only rectangular labels, the APN-100 may be simpler and slightly lighter.

The APF-100 becomes particularly useful where the same operation uses several different label shapes.

Barcode Label Applications

The APF-100 can apply compatible pre-printed barcode labels for:

  • Product identification
  • Carton labels
  • Inventory labels
  • Warehouse labels
  • Serial-number labels
  • Asset identification

The applicator does not print the barcode.

QR-Code Label Applications

Compatible QR-code labels can also be applied.

The APF-100 only dispenses and applies the label; barcode generation and print quality depend on the separate printing system.

RFID Label Applications

Compatible RFID labels may also be considered where their dimensions and construction fall within the applicator limits.

However:

The APF-100 does not encode RFID.

RFID encoding must be performed by suitable RFID equipment before application where required.

Because RFID inlays can increase stiffness or thickness, sample testing is recommended.

Security and Tamper-Evident Labels

Potential applications include:

  • Security seals
  • Tamper-evident labels
  • Warranty labels
  • Inspection seals
  • Quality-control stickers

Special constructions should be tested because adhesive and material properties can affect dispensing.

Retail Applications

Potential retail uses include:

  • Promotional labels
  • Product branding
  • Price labels
  • Sale stickers
  • Packaging labels
  • Decorative labels

Manufacturing Applications

Possible uses include:

  • Product identification
  • Work-in-process labels
  • Quality-control stickers
  • Inspection labels
  • Warning labels
  • Product seals
  • Packaging identification

Warehouse and Logistics Applications

Potential warehouse uses include:

  • Carton labels
  • Routing labels
  • Inventory labels
  • Status labels
  • Inspection labels
  • Returns identification
  • Internal tracking labels

Food Processing Applications

TOWA lists food processing among the AP Series use environments.

Possible uses include:

  • Product labels
  • Package seals
  • Batch labels
  • Promotional stickers
  • Handling labels

Food-contact and regulatory requirements depend on the label material and application, not on the applicator itself.

Fruit, Vegetable and Delicate Product Applications

TOWA also shows an optional sponge roller intended for delicate products such as fruit and eggs.

This may be useful where a hard standard roller could apply excessive pressure.

The sponge roller is optional and should not be assumed to be included.

APF-30 vs APF-60 vs APF-100

APF-30

  • Width: 20–30 mm
  • Maximum liner: 34 mm
  • Weight: 312 g

APF-60

  • Width: 20–60 mm
  • Maximum liner: 64 mm
  • Weight: 370 g

APF-100

  • Width: 20–100 mm
  • Maximum liner: 104 mm
  • Weight: 420 g

All three support shaped labels through the APF slidable sensor design.

Choose the smallest model that comfortably supports the customer's labels.

APF-100 vs APN-100

TOWA APF-100

  • Label width: 20–100 mm
  • Supports round, oval, rectangular and other compatible shapes
  • Slidable Mech-Sensor
  • Approximate weight: 420 g

TOWA APN-100

  • Label width: 50–100 mm
  • Primarily for square and rectangular labels
  • Automatic fixed-position Mech-Sensor
  • Approximate weight: 395 g

The most important difference is label shape, not simply width.

Purpose of Use

The APF-100 is intended to simplify repetitive manual application of shaped roll labels.

Instead of:

Peel Label by Hand → Position → Apply

the workflow becomes:

Load Roll → Adjust Sensor → Squeeze Handle → Apply Label

This can reduce repetitive manual peeling without requiring an automatic labeling machine.
