TOWA APF-30 Label Applicator in UAE
The TOWA APF-30 is a manual handheld label applicator designed for applying compatible pre-printed roll labels in round, oval, rectangular and other non-rectangular shapes.
Unlike the APN Series, which is primarily intended for square and rectangular labels, the APF Series uses a slidable mechanical sensor that can be manually positioned according to the shape of the label. This allows the APF-30 to handle a wider variety of label shapes while retaining simple mechanical operation.
TOWA specifies the APF-30 for label widths from 20 mm to 30 mm, label lengths from 20 mm to 60 mm, a recommended gap of 2–3 mm, maximum release-liner width of 34 mm, maximum roll outside diameter of 100 mm, and approximate weight of 312 g.
Overview
The APF-30 is the narrowest model in TOWA’s APF Series.
It is particularly useful where the label shape makes a standard fixed-position sensor unsuitable.
A typical workflow is:
Pre-Printed Label Roll
↓
Load Roll into TOWA APF-30
↓
Slide Mech-Sensor to Correct Position
↓
Squeeze Handle
↓
Label Separates from Liner
↓
Apply Label to Product / Package
The applicator requires no electricity, battery or compressed air.

Slidable Mech-Sensor
The main distinction of the APF Series is the slidable Mech-Sensor.
For rectangular labels, the label gap remains relatively consistent across the width of the label.
For round, oval or irregularly shaped labels, the visible gap between labels can vary depending on where the sensor is positioned.
TOWA addresses this by allowing the mechanical sensor to slide left or right until it aligns with the appropriate part of the label.
This allows the applicator to work with a wider variety of label shapes than the standard APN Series.
How to Adjust the Sensor
The operator should slide the Mech-Sensor to a position where it can reliably detect the edge of the label.
TOWA’s guidance describes moving the sensor toward the center or highest point of the label shape as appropriate.
For unusual shapes, testing a sample roll is advisable before purchasing multiple applicators.
No Power Required
The APF-30 is completely mechanical.
It does not require:
- AC power
- Batteries
- Charging
- Software
- Network connection
- Compressed air
This makes it useful for portable manual label application in retail, packaging, warehouse and production environments.
Label Width: 20–30 mm
TOWA specifies:
Minimum Label Width: 20 mm
Maximum Label Width: 30 mm
This makes APF-30 appropriate for relatively narrow shaped labels.
For wider labels, APF-60 or APF-100 should be considered.
Label Length: 20–60 mm
The APF-30 supports label lengths from:
20 mm to 60 mm
This differs slightly from APN-30, which starts at 18 mm.
When label length is close to the minimum, actual media should be tested if the shape is unusual.
Recommended Gap: 2–3 mm
TOWA recommends a label gap of:
2–3 mm
This remains important even with the adjustable sensor because the applicator still needs a detectable separation between labels.
Maximum Liner Width: 34 mm
The maximum supported release-liner width is approximately:
34 mm
Always measure the total liner, not only the printed label.
A 30 mm label on a liner wider than 34 mm may not fit correctly.
Maximum Roll Diameter: 100 mm
The standard maximum roll outside diameter is:
100 mm
Core size, winding direction and liner construction should also be checked.
Core Size
TOWA recommends:
25 mm minimum
with approximately:
38–51 mm / 1.5–2 inches
preferred for normal operation.
Label Material
TOWA recommends paper labels with glassine release liner.
Special materials such as:
- Film
- Synthetic paper
- Specialty constructions
may require testing before use.
Label Thickness
TOWA specifies labels should generally be:
50 μm or thicker.
Very thin labels may not dispense reliably.
Round Label Applications
The APF-30 is especially useful for small round labels.
Potential uses include:
- Promotional stickers
- Quality-control dots
- Product seals
- Small inspection labels
- Decorative labels
- Tamper-evident applications where compatible
Actual suitability depends on label size, liner and material.
Oval Label Applications
Oval labels can also be applied because the sensor position can be adjusted according to the shape.
Possible uses include:
- Product branding
- Promotional labels
- Food packaging labels
- Cosmetic labels
- Specialty retail labels
Rectangular Label Applications
The APF-30 can also handle rectangular labels within its supported size range.
However, if the customer uses only ordinary rectangular labels, the APN-30 may be simpler and lighter.
APF-30 becomes most valuable when the label shape varies or includes round/oval formats.
Retail Applications
Potential retail uses include:
- Promotional stickers
- Price labels
- Product identification
- Sale stickers
- Small branding labels
- Quality-control labels
The APF-30 can be useful where the label shape itself is part of the product presentation.
Food and Packaging Applications
Possible uses include:
- Product seals
- Date or batch stickers
- Promotional labels
- Small package identifiers
- Ingredient-related labels
- Quality-control labels
Food-contact or regulatory requirements depend on the label material and application, not on the applicator itself.
Cosmetics and Personal Care
Round and oval labels are common in cosmetics and personal-care packaging.
Potential uses include:
- Jar labels
- Bottle stickers
- Promotional seals
- Batch stickers
- Inspection labels
The product surface should be checked because strongly curved surfaces can affect application quality.
Manufacturing Applications
Possible manufacturing uses include:
- Inspection labels
- Quality-control stickers
- Pass/fail dots
- Small component labels
- Product identification
- Tamper-indicating stickers
The applicator is manual and does not provide automated positioning accuracy.
Warehouse Applications
Potential uses include:
- Status labels
- Inspection stickers
- Small inventory labels
- Routing labels
- Quality-control marks
For ordinary rectangular warehouse labels, APN may be more cost-efficient; APF is more valuable where label shape requires sensor adjustment.
APF-30 vs APN-30
APF-30
- Label width: 20–30 mm
- Label length: 20–60 mm
- Weight: approx. 312 g
- Slidable Mech-Sensor

If all labels are 30 mm or narrower, APF-30 is lighter.
If the customer uses labels wider than 30 mm, APF-60 should be considered.
APF-30 vs APF-100
APF-30
Label Width: 20–30 mm
APF-100
Label Width: 20–100 mm
APF-100 offers much wider media support but is heavier.
Choose the smallest applicator that comfortably supports the customer's label dimensions.
Purpose of Use
The APF-30 is designed to simplify manual application of shaped labels.
Instead of:
Peel Label by Hand → Align Shape → Apply
the operator can use:
Load Roll → Adjust Sensor → Squeeze Handle → Apply
This can reduce repetitive manual peeling while maintaining portability.
How to Use the TOWA APF-30
A typical setup is:
1. Confirm label dimensions and shape
Check width, length, liner, gap and roll size.
2. Load the label roll
Install the compatible roll in the applicator.
3. Feed the liner
Route the web through the dispensing mechanism.
4. Adjust the Mech-Sensor

Why NEOTECH® UAE?
For APF-30, label shape is as important as label size.
The key questions are:
Is the label round, oval, rectangular or irregular?
What is the exact width?
What is the label length?
What is the liner width?
What is the label gap?
What material is the label made from?
These checks help determine whether APF-30 is appropriate or whether APN-30, APF-60 or another model would be more suitable.
NEOTECH® focuses on straightforward hardware and label compatibility review.
For automated labeling, print-and-apply or high-speed production-line systems, a dedicated integration solution should be evaluated separately.
