3.4–9.8 mm Varifocal Lens
Unlike a fixed-lens camera, the AXIS P3275-LV provides adjustable optical framing through its 3.4–9.8 mm varifocal lens.
At the wide end:
Horizontal FoV: 100°
Vertical FoV: 52°
At the tele end:
Horizontal FoV: 32°
Vertical FoV: 18°
The camera supports remote zoom and focus, which can simplify final scene adjustment after physical installation.
This makes the P3275-LV useful where the exact viewing angle cannot be determined accurately until the camera is installed.
Lightfinder 2.0 and Low-Light Performance
AXIS P3275-LV incorporates Lightfinder 2.0 to support useful color imaging under low-light conditions.
Axis specifies:
Color: 0.08 lux at 50 IRE, F1.4
B/W: 0.02 lux at 50 IRE, F1.4
With IR illumination: 0 lux
Actual image performance depends on lighting, scene movement, camera configuration and other environmental factors.
OptimizedIR – Up to 40 m or More
The camera includes Axis OptimizedIR with power-efficient 850 nm IR LEDs.
Axis specifies an infrared reach of:
40 m (130 ft) or more depending on the scene.
This makes the P3275-LV different from indoor models such as the AXIS M3085-V that do not include built-in IR illumination.
The stated IR distance should not be treated as a guaranteed identification distance. Actual usable illumination depends on scene reflectivity, camera positioning, lens setting and environmental conditions.
Forensic WDR
The AXIS P3275-LV supports Forensic WDR up to 120 dB depending on the scene.
This can help preserve useful image detail when bright and dark areas occur simultaneously—for example, when an indoor camera monitors an entrance where strong exterior daylight is visible.
ARTPEC-9 and Deep Learning Analytics
The P3275-LV is built around Axis ARTPEC-9 and includes a deep learning processing unit.
This architecture supports analytics directly on the camera rather than requiring every analytic operation to be performed by a separate server.
Included applications listed by Axis include:
- AXIS Object Analytics
- AXIS Image Health Analytics
- AXIS Scene Metadata
- AXIS Live Privacy Shield
- AXIS Video Motion Detection
Supported applications include:
- AXIS Perimeter Defender
- AXIS License Plate Verifier
- Compatible third-party ACAP applications
Compatibility, licensing and suitability should be verified for the intended application.
AXIS Object Analytics
AXIS Object Analytics supports detection and classification of:
Humans
Vehicles:
- Cars
- Buses
- Trucks
- Bikes
- Other vehicle types
Supported scenarios include:
- Line crossing
- Object in area
- Time in area
- Crossline counting
- Occupancy in area
- Tailgating detection
- PPE monitoring – Beta
- Motion in area
- Motion line crossing
Up to 10 scenarios are supported.
Triggered objects can be displayed using trajectories, color-coded bounding boxes and tables. Polygon include/exclude areas and perspective configuration are also supported.
AXIS Image Health Analytics
An important capability of this generation is AXIS Image Health Analytics.
The application can detect conditions including:
Tampering:
- Blocked image
- Redirected image
Image degradation:
- Blurred image
- Underexposed image
Sensitivity and validation-period settings are available.
This functionality can help identify when the camera's view or image quality has been compromised rather than relying entirely on manual observation.
AXIS Live Privacy Shield
AXIS Live Privacy Shield provides dynamic masking capabilities intended to support privacy-conscious monitoring.
The supplied datasheet specifies masking for:
- Humans – entire body or face
- License plates
- Backgrounds
Masking can be pixelated or use a solid color.
Axis specifies dynamic masking at up to 10 fps, with support for multiple dynamically masked streams and one unmasked stream at full frame rate simultaneously.
Use of surveillance and privacy-masking technology should comply with applicable laws, policies and organizational requirements.
Video Streaming and Compression
The AXIS P3275-LV supports:
- AV1
- H.264
- H.265
- Motion JPEG
Axis Zipstream technology is supported with AV1, H.264 and H.265.
The camera can provide up to 20 unique configurable video streams, although Axis recommends a maximum of three unique streams per camera or channel for optimized user experience, bandwidth and storage utilization.
It also supports up to seven individually cropped view areas.
Audio Connectivity
The P3275-LV includes a 3.5 mm microphone/line input.
Supported audio capabilities include:
- External unbalanced microphone
- Optional 5 V microphone power
- Digital input
- Optional 12 V ring power
- Unbalanced line input
- Automatic gain control
- 10-band graphic equalizer
- Speaker pairing
- Portcast connectivity
- Configurable one-way and two-way audio
Compatible external hardware may be required depending on the intended audio configuration.
I/O Connectivity
The camera provides a 4-pin 2.5 mm terminal block supporting one alarm input and one output.
This can support compatible external devices and event-based integrations.
Additional audio and I/O connectivity can be added through compatible Axis portcast accessories.
Storage
The AXIS P3275-LV supports:
- microSD
- microSDHC
- microSDXC
- SD card encryption
- Network-attached storage
Recording requirements should be calculated according to frame rate, resolution, codec, scene activity, retention period and analytics requirements.
Cybersecurity
The camera incorporates the Axis Edge Vault hardware-based cybersecurity platform.
The datasheet specifies security capabilities including:
- Signed OS
- Secure boot
- Secure keystore
- Secure element
- System-on-chip security
- Axis device ID
- Signed video
- Encrypted filesystem
- Password protection
- Host-based firewall
- IEEE 802.1X
- IEEE 802.1AE MACsec
- IEEE 802.1AR
- HTTPS/HSTS
- TLS 1.2/1.3
- Network Time Security
- X.509 certificate PKI
The datasheet further specifies a secure element with CC EAL 6+ and FIPS 140-3 Level 3.
Network-camera security still depends on appropriate deployment, access control, credential management, software maintenance and network architecture.
DORI Planning Guidance
The DORI table on page 7 of the official datasheet provides separate planning distances for the wide and tele lens positions.
Detect:
Wide: 48 m
Tele: 135 m
Observe:
Wide: 19 m
Tele: 54 m
Recognize:
Wide: 9.6 m
Tele: 27 m
Identify:
Wide: 4.8 m
Tele: 14 m
These figures are based on EN 62676-4 recommended pixel densities.
They should be treated as planning references rather than guaranteed real-world identification distances. Lighting, object movement, compression, focus, lens distortion and installation conditions can affect actual results.

AXIS P3275-LV vs AXIS M3085-V – What Is the Difference?
Both cameras provide 2 MP indoor network surveillance, but they address different requirements.
The AXIS M3085-V uses a fixed 3.1 mm lens with a 102° horizontal view and provides a particularly compact mini-dome format.
The AXIS P3275-LV provides a 3.4–9.8 mm varifocal lens, remote zoom and focus, built-in OptimizedIR, ARTPEC-9, up to 50/60 fps, audio and I/O connectivity and IK10 impact resistance.
Therefore, the M3085-V may suit applications requiring a simpler compact fixed view, while the P3275-LV offers greater configuration flexibility and additional functionality.
The correct choice depends on the installation rather than one model being universally preferable.
