Video and Image Capabilities
The AXIS M1065-L provides video from 1920 × 1080 HDTV 1080p down to 320 × 240.
Its image settings include controls for compression, color, brightness, sharpness, contrast, white balance and exposure. The camera also supports privacy masks, image mirroring, WDR and rotation including Corridor Format.
Axis Zipstream technology is supported with H.264 to help manage bandwidth and storage requirements according to the configured video settings.
Built-In IR and Day/Night Operation
The camera includes an automatically removable IR-cut filter for day/night operation.
Its integrated infrared LED has adjustable intensity and a specified illumination range of up to 10 metres (32 ft).
This allows the camera to continue capturing monochrome video when visible illumination is insufficient, subject to the installation environment and scene conditions.
Built-In PIR Motion Sensor
In addition to video-based analytics, the AXIS M1065-L incorporates a passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor.
Axis specifies a maximum PIR range of 6 m (19.7 ft).
This is an important feature to consider when selecting the camera for indoor applications where physical movement detection may be useful alongside video-based event functions.
Built-In Audio
The AXIS M1065-L includes both a microphone and speaker.
The microphone can be disabled when audio recording is not required or permitted. The built-in speaker is specified at 82 dB-SPL at 0.5 m (20 in).
The camera supports two-way, half-duplex audio, allowing audio functionality to be incorporated into compatible surveillance applications.
Edge Storage
The camera supports:
- microSD cards
- microSDHC cards
- microSDXC cards
- SD card encryption
- Recording to network-attached storage (NAS)
Edge storage can be useful where local recording is required as part of the surveillance architecture.
Storage capacity, card selection, recording duration and compatibility should be calculated according to the required resolution, frame rate, compression, retention period and recording configuration.
Network and Integration
The AXIS M1065-L supports an open API for software integration, including VAPIX and the AXIS Camera Application Platform specified in the supplied datasheet.
The datasheet also lists support for:
- ONVIF Profile G
- ONVIF Profile S
- ONVIF Profile T
- IPv4
- IPv6
- HTTP
- HTTPS
- RTSP
- RTP
- TCP
- UDP
- NTP
- DHCP
Compatibility with a particular VMS, NVR, application or existing surveillance environment should nevertheless be verified before ordering.
Analytics
The supplied AXIS datasheet lists the following included applications:
- AXIS Video Motion Detection
- AXIS Motion Guard
- AXIS Fence Guard
- AXIS Loitering Guard
- Active tampering alarm
- Audio detection
The camera also supports the AXIS Camera Application Platform for compatible third-party applications.
Applications
The AXIS M1065-L may be considered for compatible indoor network surveillance requirements such as:
- Offices
- Reception areas
- Small retail environments
- Internal entrances
- Service counters
- Meeting areas
- Indoor business premises
- Small commercial spaces
- Indoor monitoring locations where integrated audio may be useful
- Applications requiring local microSD storage
- Installations where PoE can simplify camera cabling
Actual suitability depends on the required field of view, mounting position, lighting, recording requirements, privacy requirements and surveillance system design.
Purpose of Use
The M1065-L combines several surveillance functions in one compact network camera.
Its 110° horizontal field of view is intended for relatively broad scene coverage, while the fixed 2.8 mm lens means the viewing angle cannot be optically adjusted after installation.
The integrated PIR sensor, microphone, speaker, IR illumination and edge-storage capability can reduce the need for separate devices in suitable applications.
Compatibility
According to the supplied datasheet, video management options include:
- AXIS Companion
- AXIS Camera Station
- Video management software from Axis Application Development Partners
The camera also supports ONVIF Profiles G, S and T.
Compatibility should be verified against the exact VMS/NVR version, network configuration and required functions before purchase or deployment.
Things to Verify Before Ordering
Before selecting the AXIS M1065-L, we recommend confirming:
- Whether HDTV 1080p resolution meets the project requirement
- Whether the fixed 2.8 mm lens is appropriate
- Whether the 110° horizontal viewing angle covers the intended scene
- Required camera-to-subject distance
- Whether the indoor operating range of 0°C to 40°C is suitable
- Required IR distance
- Whether the 10 m IR specification is sufficient
- Required PIR detection area and distance
- Whether audio recording/use is permitted for the intended application
- PoE switch or injector compatibility
- Required microSD storage capacity
- VMS/NVR compatibility
- Network bandwidth and recording requirements
- Mounting position
- Current product lifecycle/availability
- Exact required accessories
Checking these items before ordering can help avoid selecting a camera that does not match the actual installation requirements.
