Compact pocket-size mobile inkjet marking device for printing short text, dates, times and sequential numbers directly onto suitable paper, cardboard and other absorbent surfaces.

The REINER speed-i-Jet® 798 is a compact mobile inkjet marking device designed for simple, short and repetitive direct markings.

Unlike REINER jetStamp models that create the imprint while the printer remains positioned over the surface, the speed-i-Jet 798 works by moving the device manually across the material.

The print image is prepared on a compatible PC using REINER PCset software, transferred to the speed-i-Jet 798 by USB, and then applied by hand movement.

The device is intended primarily for straightforward marking requirements such as:

  • Short text
  • Dates
  • Time
  • Fixed numbers
  • Sequential numbering
  • Internal identification
  • Inspection information
  • Shipping references

The maximum print content is one line with up to 40 characters, with a character/numeral height of approximately 3.2 mm.

At approximately 125 g, the speed-i-Jet 798 is substantially smaller and lighter than REINER's larger jetStamp systems and is intended for applications where a simple pocket-size marking tool is sufficient.

What Is the REINER speed-i-Jet 798?

The speed-i-Jet 798 can be understood as an electronic marking pen.

Instead of writing information manually with a pen or using a traditional mechanical stamp, the operator prepares the required information electronically.

The workflow is approximately:

Create Print Image on PC

Transfer by USB

Take speed-i-Jet 798 to the Item

Press Trigger

Move Printer Across Surface

Inkjet Marking Is Applied

This makes it particularly suitable for short markings that need to remain consistent but must be applied at different locations.

What Can the speed-i-Jet 798 Print?

REINER currently specifies the following print content:

  • Text
  • Numbers
  • Date
  • Time

It also supports sequential numbering, making it useful where the number needs to change systematically between impressions.

Examples could include:

06.09.2026

ORDER 24871

QC-00125

CHECKED 09:30

BOX 000123

The speed-i-Jet 798 is designed for one-line markings, so customers requiring larger multi-line layouts, logos, barcodes or QR codes should consider another REINER model.

Up to 40 Characters in One Line

The maximum imprint is:

Up to 40 Characters

One Line

Character/Numeral Height: Approximately 3.2 mm

This makes the speed-i-Jet 798 appropriate for concise identification rather than large product labels or complex graphics.

Before ordering, it is worth checking whether the required information genuinely fits within a single 40-character line.

96 dpi Print Resolution

The speed-i-Jet 798 provides:

96 dpi Print Resolution

This is appropriate for the simple text, number, date and time applications for which the device is designed.

Customers requiring detailed logos, graphics or machine-readable codes should evaluate higher-resolution REINER models such as the jetStamp graphic 970 or jetStamp 1025 instead.

Manual Movement Printing

This is one of the most important differences between the speed-i-Jet 798 and the jetStamp family.

speed-i-Jet 798

Press Trigger → Move Device Across Surface → Print

jetStamp 990 / graphic 970 / 1025

Position Device → Press Trigger → Device Creates Print Without Manual Swiping

The speed-i-Jet 798 therefore depends more directly on the operator's hand movement.

This is not necessarily a disadvantage. For simple, short markings, the movement-based approach contributes to the device's small size and straightforward operation.

However, applications requiring a larger or highly controlled imprint may be better suited to a jetStamp model.

Designed for Paper and Cardboard

REINER currently emphasizes the speed-i-Jet 798 particularly for:

  • Paper
  • Cardboard
  • Paperboard
  • Suitable absorbent surfaces

It can also be useful on suitable uneven surfaces where conventional desktop printing or fixed stamping would be inconvenient.

Surface compatibility should still be checked before deployment.

Ink absorption, surface texture and coating can affect:

  • Drying
  • Sharpness
  • Contrast
  • Smearing
  • Durability

A sample test is advisable when the material is coated, unusual or operationally important.

Shipping and Carton Marking

One practical application for the speed-i-Jet 798 is shipping-carton identification.

REINER documents a current shipping application in which cartons are directly marked with information such as:

  • Order numbers
  • Inspection codes
  • Dates

This type of workflow can be useful where preparing and applying a separate label would add unnecessary work for a short piece of information.

For example:

ORDER 48126 – QC 07

can be printed directly onto a suitable carton.

This does not mean direct printing should replace shipping labels required by carriers or regulations. It is more appropriate for supplementary operational markings where direct printing meets the requirement.

Sequential Numbering

Sequential numbering is useful when each item requires a changing identifier.

For example:

000001

000002

000003

000004

This can support simple workflows involving:

  • Document numbering
  • Inspection numbering
  • Package identification
  • Internal tracking
  • Production references
  • Inventory handling

For sophisticated serialization or database-controlled traceability, a more advanced marking system may be required.

PCset Software

Print layouts are prepared on a compatible PC using REINER's PCset software.

The print image is then transferred to the speed-i-Jet 798 through USB.

The device stores:

1 Print Image

This is an important purchasing consideration.

The 798 is deliberately focused on simple applications. It is not designed to carry hundreds of different layouts for immediate selection in the way the larger jetStamp 1025 platform can.

When the marking needs to change, the required print image can be prepared and transferred according to the supported PCset workflow.

USB Data Transfer

The speed-i-Jet 798 uses:

USB

for data transfer.

Current REINER specifications do not position the 798 as a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth marking device.

Customers specifically requiring wireless print-image transfer should therefore consider other REINER models according to their application.

Mobile Battery Operation

The speed-i-Jet 798 uses rechargeable:

2 × AA NiMH Batteries

REINER specifies battery capacity of approximately:

Up to 1,000 Impressions

under specified conditions.

Actual operating capacity can vary with battery condition, usage pattern and operating environment.

The use of rechargeable batteries supports mobile operation without requiring a power cable during normal marking.

Suitable for Right- and Left-Handed Users

REINER specifically identifies the speed-i-Jet 798 as suitable for:

Right-Handed Users

and

Left-Handed Users

This is useful where the same device may be shared among multiple operators.

speed-i-Jet 798 vs jetStamp 990

Both models can address relatively simple marking requirements, but their operation is fundamentally different.

speed-i-Jet 798

  • One line
  • Up to 40 characters
  • 96 dpi
  • Manual movement required
  • Approximately 125 g
  • USB
  • One stored print image
  • Up to approximately 1,000 impressions
  • Particularly compact

jetStamp 990

  • Two-line capability
  • Up to approximately 42 × 3.2 mm per line
  • 96 dpi
  • Prints without manual swiping
  • Approximately 500 g
  • USB + Bluetooth
  • Up to 25 stored print images
  • Display
  • Up to approximately 2,000 impressions under current manufacturer specifications

If the requirement is simply a short one-line date, number or text marking, the speed-i-Jet 798 may be sufficient.

If multiple stored layouts, two-line printing or stationary trigger-operated printing is important, the jetStamp 990 may be more appropriate.

speed-i-Jet 798 vs jetStamp graphic 970

The difference becomes much larger when graphics or machine-readable codes are required.

speed-i-Jet 798

Designed primarily for:

  • Text
  • Numbers
  • Date
  • Time
  • Sequential numbering

Resolution: 96 dpi

Maximum: One line / 40 characters

jetStamp graphic 970

Designed for more complex content including:

  • Text
  • Numbers
  • Dates
  • Graphics
  • Logos
  • 1D barcodes
  • 2D codes

Resolution: 300 dpi

Maximum Print Area: Approximately 65 × 12.7 mm

The graphic 970 is therefore a more appropriate model when the application requires logos, barcodes, QR/DataMatrix codes or a larger multi-line print layout.

Applications

The REINER speed-i-Jet 798 may be considered for:

  • Shipping departments
  • Warehouse operations
  • Incoming-goods marking
  • Outgoing-goods marking
  • Carton identification
  • Paper documents
  • Forms
  • Lists
  • Inspection marking
  • Quality-control references
  • Order-number marking
  • Date marking
  • Time marking
  • Sequential numbering
  • Internal identification
  • Small production batches
  • Maintenance documentation

Purpose of Use

The speed-i-Jet 798 is intended to solve a relatively simple problem:

How can short, repeatable information be applied directly to an item without handwriting, preparing a label or carrying a larger printing system?

Its strength is therefore not having the most functions.

Its strength is being small, mobile and focused on simple one-line marking.

For customers who genuinely need only that functionality, purchasing a more complex industrial marking printer may be unnecessary.

Why NEOTECH® UAE?

The speed-i-Jet 798 is a good example of why selecting equipment based only on the number of features can lead to unnecessary complexity.

A customer who only needs to print a short date, inspection reference or sequential number onto cartons may not need a 300 dpi printer with graphics, barcode and wireless capabilities.

At the same time, a customer requiring QR codes, logos or multi-line product identification should not select the 798 simply because it is smaller.

The correct decision depends on the actual marking requirement.
